Twin Flexband 1xN WSS

II-VI Gen-2 LightFlowTM Twin WSS

II-VI’s Twin 1xN WSS series is tailored for the next-gen coherent LH/metro network applications. It is powered by the Gen-2 LightFlowTM switch engine, featuring Flexband capability at 12.5GHz granularity, yet bundled in II-VI’s standard packaging footprint with compatible electrical and software interfaces. This provides NEMs with increased flexibility, improved spectral efficiency, lower overall component and development costs, and shorter time to market. 

II-VI’s Twin 1xN WSS series also inherits the key characteristics fromII-VI’s widely deployed standard WSS products, such as the high reliability and low power consumption, while featuring improved performance and doubled switching functionality and still maintaining the same compact module size.

Flexband 1xN WSS

II-VI Gen-2 LightFlowTM Flexband WSS

II-VI's Flexible Bandwidth Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) series is an important innovation of WSS technology, which enables the next generation networking towards higher capacity, with flexible bandwidth in 12.5GHz granularity - 4 times density compared to the standard fixed 50GHz channel spacing.

Powered by the Gen-2 LightFlowTM switch engine, II-VI’s Flexband 1xN WSS series also inherits the key characteristics from II-VI’s widely deployed standard WSS products, such as the high reliability and low power consumption, while featuring improved performance. Its backward compatibility allows the NEMs to minimize the investments in the future proof network equipment development.

50GHz Wavelength Selective Switch

High performance with integrated functionalities in a small footprint

II-VI's series of Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) modules with 50GHz channel spacing provide dynamic and independent switching of up to 96 wavelengths. We have designed the 50GHz line of WSS to be drop in compatible with our 100GHz WSS line. In the Nx1 switch configuration the WSS can direct any wavelength from any one of the N colorless input ports to the common output port. In the 1xN configuration the WSS can direct any of the wavelengths from the common port to any of the N output ports. Modules are available where the configuration, 1xN or Nx1, is field selectable, and all wavelength's can be independently switched, attenuated and/or blocked.

The WSS module offers high performance with integrated functionalities in a small footprint, remote configurability via embedded firmware and software, scalability, and extremely low power consumption. The WSS can be used for dynamic wavelength routing for optical path protection, reconfigurable add-drop (ROADM), and optical cross connect (OXC) applications. The WSS module can also be used as 1xN device for optical drop application.

Based on our proprietary LightFlowTM  technology, the WSS module features low insertion loss, wide dynamic range, high channel counts, low polarization dependent loss and exceptionally low power consumption. As with all of the LightFlow solutions, there are no moving parts, providing high reliability, long lifetime, and Telcordia compliance.

Tunable Mux/DeMux (TMX)

A cost-effective solution for colorless add/drop

II-VI's Tunable Mux/DeMux (TMX) modules offer hitless wavelength tunability and remote configurability of up to 96 wavelengths at a 50GHz channel spacing, ideally designed for colorless Mux or DeMux applications.

The 1xN TMX product line shares the proprietary liquid crystal (LC)-based LightFlow™ technology platform with II-VI's WSS product series. As with other LightFlow solutions, TMX modules have no moving parts and extremely low power consumption, providing high reliability, long lifetime, and Telcordia compliance. Currently, N is optimized at 16 to achieve the lowest cost/port ratio. It is designed to be drop-in compatible with II-VI's WSS modules, both in footprint and firmware, to minimize the cost and engineering efforts for network equipment manufacturers (NEMs).

II-VI's TMX provides an easy and cost-effective upgrade to next generation features on existing ROADM network infrastructures. Its scalable architecture enables a pay-as-you-grow business model for carriers and service providers.
